Ancient church in Medak, Telangana.

Hi Friends,

Today, I have visited the ancient church in Medak, Telangana.

History - It is one of the second largest and oldest historical monument of South India since 1947. It was originally built by Charles Walker Fasnet British Wesleyan Methodists, it was consecrated on 25 December 1924. It is popularly known as Medak Church or Medak Cathedral. It is located at Medak 100km from Hyderabad and it can accommodate 5000 people at a time and spread over 1000 acres of land. It took 10 years to build this beautiful piece of architecture. The older timers say the Nizam has kept a condition that the Cathedral should be taller than the Charminar of Hyderabad.

Stained Glass work - What sets the church apart is Stained Glass windows of the church created by Sir Frank O’ Salisbury of London. The stained glass window looks spectacular during day time. All the stained glass windows have the inscriptions in English, Telugu, and Hindi. The stained glass shows the phases of Jesus’s Life.

Timings for Visiting - From morning 7 am to 1 pm and again 2 pm to 6 pm from Monday to Saturday and on Sunday morning 6 am to 6 pm.

How to reach - It is easy to reach the place by bus, cabs or own vehicle. As it is very famous easy to locate the place. It takes 2 hours of time to reach the place. Nearest train station is wadiaram, kamareddy railway station.

During Christmas celebrations, every year more than 1 lakh pilgrims participate in Christmas Celebrations. Devotees not only from Hyderabad, but also come from Karnataka, & Maharastra. It is one of the most historical places for Art lovers. Awesome place to have good and peaceful time. Inside the church, you will feel Purely the presence of Almighty God.
