No staff is trained to handle infants with special care. Equipments are not easily available for infants.
The food department seems to forget the patient is an infant. The emergency response is so bad that patients with injuries are waiting for staff to wake up from sleep and do their job. The complete paper work is needed before emergency and every step that follows. They use computers and barcode stickers and yet ask to fill full form below that bar code. Is this needed when in an emergency? Paper work is needed before almost every procedure even X-rays.
Repeated filling up of forms even after admissions into rooms. The doctors are more often fellow doctors who are dont have any experience even with many adults, let alone infants. the nurse kept flushing the needle four times before stopping and considering some other option. All this exercise of a infant is extremely painful. The doctor who writes his name in paper is different from the one in emergency and also different from the one who does the procedure or operation. In the end parents keep wondering who did what and who can explain the status. After operations, there is no briefing giving by any doctor. Patients are not allowed to leave the lobby of their floor, forget getting fresh outside air. Patients are thieves who may run away before paying so they dont even let them walk in open air or on grass. We waited at post-op for two hours and nobody came. We waited whole day in room and no doctor ever showed up. Only after repeated complains, a fellow doctor finally came but even then he started by saying I was not the one who did surgery. So why are you here exactly? Patients are asked to sign unfilled approval forms and it is called to be normal procedure. The nurses on duty dont even have correct information about the case. They dont have any spare infant clothing, sanitary clothing. They borrow it from other patients who do have. Nurses keep asking do you have your own thermometer. Nurses cant talk any Hindi, very very bad English and very hard to either explain them or to understand them. When nurses are called into the room, they either hesitate or find someone else who can do the procedures even as simple as re application of the bandage.
Giving medicines to infants is same as adults, as they think till suggested otherwise by the parents. Clear loss of confidence when they have to handle an infant. Emergency doctors or fellow doctors actually dont even have speaking manners to patients. Free advise on value of money is given by doctors. Doctors in emergency were busy chewing tobacco. 3 doctors in emergency were found ver weight. The specialist was only available on call. The billing, operation theatre, the admission, the pantry all are disorganized and loss of communication. The doctors asked to pay for the procedure but billing refused as he had not computer data for that procedure.
The nurses station head will eagerly defend the nurses when challenged for not doing good job saying we are just rolling the policy and you ask doctor is you have any questions. When asking the nurses to do it properly they ask the parent back, how do you want us to do it. It takes them half hour to get and prepare medication for the baby even when reminded, babies have a sleeping cycle which should be considered. The medical insurance team at the hospital not only forgets to send the papers within the 24hour time limit, it also misplaces those docs in its own office. They use computers and enormous amounts of files but they had to ask the patient for another copy which they send to insurance company again. Completely careless about the trouble the patient must be having due to such a service. Patients themselves are treated exactly their worth here. Finally writing this sitting and waiting for a 15min deadline given to them to either clear the bill from insurance or I will pay the balance myself. I had to wait since morning till sunset for them to finish the discharge.
The insurance handling staff did not want to admit that they forget sending docs within 24 hours. If they had told its a mistake on their part, I would have simply paid in cash in the morning itself and "checked out" of this hell hotel.
