Nostalgic? In a Perrinial Reverie? Read this book!

Mediocre But Arrogant (if you havent guessed already, the title stands for MBA) is a book that follows the life of Abbey, the protagonist. He’s a regular Delhi college guy with no ambition (except maybe to get a chick) who does little else but ’hang out’ or organise events with girls’ colleges. He gets selected to do an MBA in HR at the prestigious Management Institute of Jamshedpur (MIJ...it’s actually XLRI). Clueless Abbey calls this ’’Serendipity’’. In two years at this institute, he meets many people, all with their own set of idiosyncacies. There’s Rusty - the know-it-all, Ayesha - the glamorous babe, Gopher - the jerk, ANA - who’s actually a guy, Hairy, Alps - she’s got what the boys call twin alps, etc. The proffessors too are not spared by the author (they rarely are) and are described in hilarious detail. There’s Pari - the Malbaro man, Chatto - the Quantitative Techniques heavily accented Bengali nightmare, Haathi - an overweight but definately loved firang, Mrs. Kameini - who they call Kameeni, etc. Since the first time author (Abhijit Bhaduri) is an accomplished cartoonist, he’s got a couple of Abbey’s doodles thrown in. From Abbey’s blog on the net (https://mediocrebutarrogant.blogspot.com/2005/08/mediocre-but-arrogant-hits-best.html, I get the impression that the one where he sketches Ayesha’s eyes is a favourite. MBA is an enjoyable read and I dare say, something of a satire. It is the first book of the trilogy. But since the author took 7 long years to write the book, I dont know how long we’ll have to wait for the other two....
