Medway Hospital in Nolambur, Chennai – Medical Neg

I admitted my father on 14-08-2021 in the ICU for seizure treatment at the Medway Hospital in Nolambur. He was discharged on 15-08-2021. After a month of routine checkups with the Duty Doctor on September 20-09-2021 at the same hospital, I bought the prescribed medicine from the Medway pharmacy. I asked the pharmacy guy for the bill but he didn’t give the bill.

As I was busy on that, I didn’t insist the pharmacy guy for the bill much. My father had the medicine continuously for the next 4 days. He told me, he was feeling tired, dizzy and had a vomiting sensation. But on the 4th day, he was unable to get up and sit. He became extremely weak.

Then we consulted our family doctor and showed the medicine given by the Medway Hospital pharmacy. The doctor said it is the wrong medicine, " Carpill" given by the Medway pharmacy. The medicine Carpill given by the pharmacy is to treat Dengue and not to treat seizures.

Immediately I rushed to the Medway pharmacy to check are they giving the right medicine or Carpill again. This time again the pharmacy guy gave me CARPILL instead of LEVIPILL, I asked the pharmacy guy for the previous bill which I bought the medicine on 20-09-2021. But he replied someone has deleted the bill from the database and I asked him, why was it deleted? He replied, he didn’t know about that. I asked him are you giving the right medicine now, he checked and said yes, I told him that you are giving the wrong medicine for the 2nd time. I shouted at him for his negligence and he agreed and apologized for the horrible mistake which is not all acceptable. I took this medical negligence to the Medway’s management. They first denied to talk to me and I insisted I want to meet the top management.

Then Ms. Shanmuga Priya(Hospital Manager) came and met me after a long waiting time. She immediately asked what is my expectation? I asked them for the compensation and also told her to appoint qualified staffs to work in the pharmacy as they are dealing with human lives. The Medway hospital has informed me that they will give the decision on 22-10-2021. But they are least bothered to respond to me till date.

I have questions, will they treat the patient without money?

What happened to my father if he had taken the wrong medicine continuously?

Can they give back my father’s life?

The management is irresponsible for the negligence they have committed. I want justice!

Thanks,

Thiyagarajan
