Hello guys, I have been to Meerut twice and the city has enormous cleanliness issues for anybody who has lived in cleaner cities.
From the train coming nearing the railway station itself, the problem of waste disposal becomes inevitably evident. You cant just ignore the filthy sorroundings at once. The Railway Station itself lacks cleanliness. Either it seems there is no staff for cleanliness or its staff has never been to the railway station.
Once you come out of the station, you will know the problem lies in the entire city administration as whole rather than railway stations. As far as drainage is concerned, most of the draining lines are open and many places are just stinking due to the amount waste dumped and collected in open. Not one or two but many cleanliness innitiatives will be needed to bring a change to this place.
The city is congested, traffic rules mean nothing to people here. The crowded places seem to fudge the pace of traffic due to this mismanagement. People are rather the same like any other place in western UP.
Talking about the places to visit, there are few famous temples Augharnath temple, Mansa Devi temple, Chandi Devi temple. The city has a stinking vibe thanks to open severage lines here and there. The municipality council needs to be woken up to see the practical conditions of unhygienic and illness. The transportation is apt and you will not find it hard to go from one place to other within the city.
