INTRODUCTION
I had been hearing about this movie for a long time, but I only saw it last year when I got the CD for free. I didnt believe that a movie based on a thief has become a hit.
But as I once heard, almost every man has a hidden thief in him. I wonder were I have seen these words. A small thief surely can hide in people as no one is completely an epitome of goodness and truth.
After seeing this movie, I came to realise that this is such a simple movie in a small village with a high level human life touch which attracts the viewers to the movie especially in the rural areas.
The movie seems to be bringing to us a new hero in a thief just like Robin Hood, the prince of thieves and not to forget Kaayamkulam Kochunni, the historical thief of Kerala from which Surya TV have made a new serial to kill us.
THE PLOT
The story is concentrated on a village and a smart, helpful thief Madhavan, commonly known as Meesa Madhavan (Dileep) as he twist his meesa - moustache upwards looking at some one which means that he is going to break into that persons house that night.
But he is loved most of the people especially the police constable Nambeeshan (Oduvil Unnikrishnan) who is with Madhavan at most of the times (not while stealing). Actually, he was forced to steal from his childhood due to the difficulites in life. There is the daughter of Madhavans all-time enemy Pillaichan (Jagathy) coming back from her studies - Rukmini (Kavya Madhavan).
After hating each other for some days, she falls in love with the thief. The thief is going fine, but the new Sub Inspector (Indrajit) has just taken charge in the the police station and doesnt seems to be very happy about the actions of Madhavan and seems to have an eye on Rukmini too. He is doing all in his power to bring maximum amount of harm to Madhavan and Pillaichan is with him giving him all help he needs in his mission.
Will they succeed in their evil mission? Will the love story of Madhavan and Rukmini meet an early end? What more achievements will Madhavan get in his career as a thief? You can expect anything from a thief.....just go thorugh the life of this thief and find out in Meesa Madhavan.....
PERFORMANCE
Dileep has proved that he is one of the leading actors in Malayalam movies right now, and he has given his best performance in this movie. He had been doing comedy really well for a long time and has done emotional scenes well too. I think that this movie was the real turning point of this mans career.
Kavya Madhavan has played the village girl really well, but she is getting fatter and fatter every day. That may be why she is called Veepakutti in the movie. Her facial expressions are good and dialogues too are good, but if she cannot decrease her weight, she may break the bones of actors. Atleast she did this role well and there is no question about her acting.
Now, who could do comedy better than Jagathy? He had been doing his best for a long time in the industry. In the movie, he acts with such an ease that we cannot believe that he is above fifty. Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Salim Kumar and Cochin Haneefa adds to the quality of the film as the former does the serious as well as the comedy in the movie while the latter two are on the comedy side through out the movie.
CONCLUSION
Meesa Madhavan had been a good movie even if not the best you will see. It depends on the tase of the viewers whether they like it or not. The movie has some brilliant acting along with the good songs vaaleduthaal, chinga maasam, Kazhimizhi, penne penne all had been good even if not the best. The meesa will stay in our minds after seeing this movie for sure. It is a major factor of the movie.
There are some good sceneries to view in the movie and the innicence of the village people are also shown in it. The movie has some good jokes as well as some boring ridiculous ones which have become quite usual in current movies. If they cannot get good jokes, they just adjust with what they find here and there. Anyways, you can dare to see the movie because it is a straight forward story.
