Meet the parents was an extremely funny movie. I love Ben Stiller’s comedies, his characters manage to get pummeled to atomic size , physically and emotionally and that is always so damn funny!!! And Meet the parents epitomized this trademark style of his.
The sequel however, was highly lacking in originality, the jokes were mostly banal. Robert De Niro tends to get slightly irritating at times. And what the hell was the script writer thinking when he decided to create the baby’s character??? The poor kid was reduced to a trained animal’s role in the movie, Im sure he’s gonna be bullied when he grows up!!!!
It was kinda fun watching Dustin Hoffman though - again, his character keeps drifting in and out of the ’line of tolerability’, if thats even a word. Ben Stiller still rocks though, manages to get kicked in the guts again :).
Overall, its not something I’d cry over if I missed. However, if you’re willing to rent the DVD once it comes out, its watchable - just dont keep your expectations high.
