Entertaining Family Movie!

I watched this movie a couple of days back. It is a family film in which Ben Stiller plays the part of fiance of his lady love Teri Polo (Pam).Teri looks gorgeous in the movie. He visits the girl’s house where he doesnt’t have any problem with other members of her family except her father who becomes a pain in the neck for him. The father is over-protective towards his only daughter and always keeps checking his prospective son-in-law’s actions.

Robert De Niro plays the part of father-in-law to perfection. He is a lover of cats while Ben Stiller is a dog-lover, but since he doesn’t want to annoy his father-in-law, he says that he loves cats as well. I remember a funny scene when both of them go out for a long drive and Stiller tries to impress his father-in-law but Niro points out that he loves cats since they don’t try to win the affection of their masters unlike dogs, but wait for their appreciation. Needless to say, Stiller keeps his mouth shut after getting this hint.

Another comical scene was when Niro asks Stiller to pray on the dining table and Stiller who has never said a prayer in his life, blurts out an impromptu dinner speech in praise of God. Throughout his stay there, Stiller commits one mistake after another which annoys his father-in-law no end. When Niro’s pet cat is lost, Stiller becomes

the hero when he brings another cat by painting its tail so that it looks exactly like the original cat. But, his mistake is found out soon enough and once again, he gets the brickbats from the girl’s family.

Ultimately, Stiller prepares to leave the family and proceeds to the airport. But Niro overhears his daughter speaking to Stiller on phone, pleading to him that she loves him in spite of all that has happened. Stiller sends a copy of some competitive test that he has passed to prove

that he is as smart as anybody else to the girl’s family. On seeing this and keeping regard for his daughter’s feelings, Niro proceeds to bring his son-in-law back. He again questions him with all affection. Niro shows that although he has a tough exterior appearance, his heart still beats for his daughter whom he loves more than anything else.
