Mersal is a tamil feature film starring Vijay, Samantha, Nithya Menen, Kajal Agarwal, S.J Suryah and
Vadivelu. The film deals with the scam in the medical industry, and how the hero decides to take on it,
forms the rest of the plot. This is Vijays highest-budget film in his career.
As usual, Vijay gives an wonderful performance in triple role, playing that of the father and 2 sons. The
role of Thalapathy Vetrimaran, especially, is a treat for the audience and we see Vijay in rural avatar
after a long time. The other roles of Vijay, Dr.Maaran and Magician Vetri are well written. Though
the film has 3 heroines, Nithya Menen gets the most important role and delivers an excellent
performance. Samantha and Kajal have less scope in the film, nut deliver good performance.
S.J Suryah, as the antagonist, is simply nice and menancing. Hope his acting skills get more usage in the
film industry. Comedian Vadivelu, back after a long time, entertains us with his one-liners. Even the
small actors in the film perform really well, especially Kaali Venkat.
As far as the other aspects of the film is concerned. A.R Rahmans music is really good, especially in the
song " Aalaporan Tamizhan " and in the background score. Cinematography by debutant G.K Vishnu is
really exceptional and each frame is vibrant and colorful. I am sure he will get more big films in the
future. Editing by Ruben makes the film more fast paced and entertaining. The film has been shot in
various local and foreign destinations, which enhance the visual appeal of the film. Atlee, the director,
gives yet another blockbuster with Vijay, after Theri. The dialogues are powerful and packs a punch,
especially where Vijay slams the doctors, who treat medical services as business, in the climax.
Overall, Mersal is a treat to watch for the audience and a reason to celebrate for Vijay fans. I personally
loved the film. Recommend to all.
