It appears like they want to shut down services!

Dear Friends,


Due to illness I booked MERU genie cab, assisted by app from my colleague. The distance travelled was 5.2 km as reflected in faux bill by their app. For 5.2 km they charged Rs. 165/-.


Their website https://genie.merucabs.com/pricing/   for PUNE  reflects


First 4Km - 90.00 Rs.


After 4km - 12.00/km


Waiting - Rs. 1.5/ min in the top box.


So as per this calculation maximum fare would have been around Rs. 115/-.


At bottom in fine lines it was given that morning 6AM to 11PM are peak hours( excepting 11AM to 4PM). The surcharge of 50Rs. was applied in the above bill.


Meru doesn’t give charge estimate beforehand. All those customers who want to go nearby will feel grossly cheated by them. Please refer attached photos for reference.


To all users who can avoid using it for near distance or even who want to travel to longer one and disagree such arbitrary charges should always avoid such cheating tactics. Their tag line is easy on pocket, ridiculous! With such cheating they will have to introduce slack time fares. No wonders why they have to search for customers with such policies.

Immediately after we received your complaint, we sent the cab to Maintenance for repair. We’ve also instructed the chauffeur that he must report the cab for Inspection without delay if there’s even slightest of hint that the meter might not be in perfect working condition.


Assure you cab maintenance has been our top priority and we’re rigorously working on it.


We’ve tightened the inspection schedules and employed Enforcement and Quality teams in each city who work onground and are fully dedicated to ensuring cabs are kept in good condition.

All that I want to say is I am not interested in that coupon at all! If possible try to rectify where the problem is rather than beating around the bush.


On the other hand OLA has started quantifying this episode to promote Taxi for sure, not overcharging by mail campaign, smelling like privacy breach.
