Hello everyone after a long time of absence.Hope u havent forgotten me...
Although I generally prefer hard rock to heavy metal, this landmark of metal kind could never be ignored by a rocker...Being far from the trash, speed and death styles, the metallica sound is impossible to resist with its untiring but still rhytmic metal style...
The most striking point about the album is the involvement of metal ballads which has never been observed in the previous albums of the group(One and Fade to Black excluded)...
Album was released in 1991 and was able to accomplish being number 1 on the charts...The Unforgiven and Nothing Else Matters were the so called ballads of the album and were the first pure slow songs of the group...Hetfield and Ulrich have taken part in the composition of all songs;Hammet on some of them and Newsted in My Friend Of Misery...
As I have mentioned The Unforgiven and Nothing Else Matters are the shining diamonds of the album with extra ordinary quality and sound. The soft guitar solos have been combined succesfully with harsh electro guitar passages...Hetfields vocal has excellently enriched the musical combination of the tracks...
Among the non-ballad songs there almost none which could be commented as filling song...Except one or 2 all of the remaining songs are over average quality presenting the usual Metallica metal sound...The most attractive ones are perhaps Enter Sandman, Sad But True and Wherever I May Roam...Enter Sandman is exactly a wonderful one revealing the true energetic style of the group;Sad But True has a rhythym which is uncut;besides the third has risings and descendings in its rhytm combination which may unfavour the listener...In fact I think especially My Friend Misery is as good as the leading 2...According to me Dont Trade On Me has one of the best rhytmic structure among all;as much good as Sad But True...Of Wolf And Man and Through The Never are of attention too..The Struggle Within and can be listened without getting bored perhaps...
The God That Failed and Holier Than Thou are ordinary songs that can be just listened or ignored either...
One of the best Metallica albums ever will give u the classical taste of Metallica sound and the Metallica style, enchanting metal ballad composition...The group fans may not think that this one is a real good Metallica album because its an unusual one. However I think its a good combination of the classical metallic style and the ballad composition which the fans think that this is the softening and impairment of the Metallica era...Do u think so??
