A true roller coaster ride of various emotions
Lately many movies have portrayed multiple story formula but no director
actually could convey his message convincingly but here is a film which takes u
thru a journey of three lives and various charcters and how superbly!.nicely
woven and narrated with no confusion and most importantly not taking a help of
those ever so easy way of conveying the message – the titles – “one month later
or some years later” and so on.it’s a smooth narrative which u can digest
easily and enjoy it at the same time.
Life in a Metro mein aisa
kuch bhi nahi hai jo hum dekh na chuke hon magar fir bhi everything seems to be
so nice about this film.its the treatment which is the winner and the credit
for that goes to the director Anurag Basu.and also the dialogue writer Sanjeev
Dutta to a certain extent. The best thing about the film is its presentation. The film does not drag for even a moment.
Since his very 1st film Anurag loves heights and edges of high
storeyed buildings hai na? watch bheege honth tere from Murder.watch the
Kangana and Emran love making scene in Gangster.he is passionate about heights
which he has brilliantly picturised in this film too.like the Band shots on
the tank of the terrace.Irrfan Konkana scene where she shouts her heart out
on the tank of the terrace.the love making scene of Kangana and KK is again at
the edge of the window.Sad Kangana sitting on the edge of her window when she
talks to Konkana.
Anurag’s casting in the film has been like a passionate filmmaker who wanted good actors rather than naamwaale actors and
how perfect he was.
While u are watching Metro u can relate to various
characters because they have performed so well.
Anurag has dared to present the real fact which we all go thru at some or the
other point in life and it is that other side of personality of everybody in
the film which comes out very clearly.the situations in the film clarify why
a person gets into an extra marital affair.be it Shilpa.Kay Kay.Shiney or
who ever.and how a person lets himself loose for few moments.few days.and then
after realizing the facts Subah ka bhoola shaam ko ghar aa jaata hai.Metro’s
story could be anybody’s story from a big city like Mumbai or any other Metro.
Anurag Basu may b just 3-4 films old but
he is very promising.the way he has written the screenplay of the film shows
that he is growing and maturing with every film of his.the way he has handled
all the characters in the film is amazing.when u come out of the theatre and
give it a thought you will find that he has justified the screen presence of
all the characters in such a beautiful manner.tight screenplay is the name of
the game.
But as per me what Anurag should have avoided in the
film was that Band as the sutradhar.or if he wanted to use the band wala angle then
it should have had some relevance to the story.throughout the film I felt that the rock band came
from no where and started singing there lines all of a sudden.though at every
point the song(Audio) which the band starts was justified ably but not the
appearance(Video) of band on screen.
The Camera work is the soul of the film.As per me Bobby Singh is a young and
dynamic Cinematographer who has all the knowledge of visual treatment as per
the subject.his lighting in the film is amazing.goes with the mood of the
film.the scene where KK and Kangana have a fight in Sharman’s flat is an
amazing piece of work. The natural feel given at various train stations the
film is shot at.there are so many of them.
I would like to make a special mention here for the dialogue writer Sanjeev
Dutta whose dialogues evoke laughter.pain.pathos.attitude at the required
places in the film.i wanted to mention the dialouges here but aah this character limitation here.newys.Sanjeev Dutta is a promising writer and surely knows his job.
The Music of Metro is too good and at the same time experimental.Pritam has
scored some lovely tracks which are hummable too.like In Dinon Dil
Mera.Alvida.Dil Khudgarz hai.Rishtey.the use of the rock format in the
songs is pretty neat and believe me Rock will be an In thing now with every
musician.
Acting abilities oh my god.what do I write here for these amazing superb
actors they are mind blowing.
KK is no doubt one of the best actors in the industry today.the way he
portrays Ranjeet’s character is appreciable.KK carrys off his
look so brilliantly that he looks downright convincing.Just Superb.
SHILPA another brilliant actress and the role she is playing is that of Shikha which gives her every
scope to prove that she is the best in business today.mind blowing stuff from Shilpa after a long long time.
SHINEY brilliantly plays the role of Aakash and plays it very cool in the film.
SHARMAN is superb as Rahul and carry’s himself so well.amazing actor.very promising and he
got the role which he could essay with full ease.
KANGANA is a girl ready to take on any challenges as an
actress.she plays Neha and
the way she understands her character is too good.her body language.confirms
every thing she is going thru in the film.very impressive.
KONKANA plays Shruti younger sister to Shilpa and a roommate of Kangana.how well she carries off
the role.jus superb.
IRRFAN plays Monty and plays it how convincingly.Amazing
actor with all the super qualities of an actor which the biggest star in India
may be still dreaming of.Class apart and hats off to Irrfan for yet another brilliant
performance.
DHARMENDRA and NAFISA ALI SODHI are also good as the old couple in love.but I still feel that Indian audiences need time to digest this kind of
open relationship of old people and there intimacy on bed in cinema.but the way the two have performed on
screen is convincing.
The climax I think was a bit clichéd as we have seen the same old stuff in so
many movies before but Irrfan and Konkana’s track makes it quite interesting
though. All in all a brilliant film packaged nicely and presented.Kudos to UTV
to believe in the film and the subject that too after Knowing that a similar multi track subject which had bombed
badly recently by known makers and UTV still attempting it.
a good piece of
Cinema.
