Being a compulsive foodie, I invariably scout for good eating joints both on my personal and professional trips alike. This time, I happened to be in Kothrud, Pune, one of the fastest growing suburbs in the world ...and I was in for a pleasant surprise.
Metromix..A Culinary Cruise..is a new restaurant set up in Kumar Parisar - a spacious and well-planned locality - I was instantly drawn to the place - and as I stepped in, my delight got bigger and better. The best part here is the complete absence of the usual plastic smiles that attack you at every hotel.
Sachin Joshi, the smiling host (Metromix is his brainchild, we learnt much later and he’s an MBA by qualification and of course a well known culinary expert ) was very warm but equally matter-of-fact - he was quick to suggest us a dinner in line with our tastes and preferences - only when he found us clueless, did he take us on a world tour of fusion cuisine - and Man! what a safari it turned out to be - Mushroom and Coriander soup, Garlic Bread with melted cheese, Chinese sizzlers, Green thai curry with steam rice and finally ice cream with honey and noodles - of course, there are so many delicacies left to try out...I wait for my next trip with bated breath.
The food is just what you need - filling but not heavy - and cost effective if you value good food - it’s like a world tour in Indian currency.
On my next visit, Sachin has promised to share his insights on fusion cuisine. His passion is evident in the manner in which he explains every preparation. He also imparts training and knowledge sessions on the subject. Do pay a visit if and when you are in Kothrud ...or even miles away from it - this place is worth the while ...take my word ...if you do, you will undoubtedly spread it around....
