For past several years, I have been airtel broadband customer service in Kundanahalli. When I moved to Munnekolala, I took Airtel connection but the maximum speed they gave was only 2mbps. So I wanted to switch after seeing metronet 10mbps plan.
After paying 1000rs installation charge, the connection type was prepaid where I have to pay 1399 pm. It was said to have 100GB limit and post that speed will be reduced to 1mbps.
Metronet is nothing but Bell tele services which operates in different areas of Bangalore as they franchise it to local area-wise distribution.
First of all the sales person dont know any thing about the service and its better if you just ask plan related details. Now let us review the traps
The IP is shared, hence even booking tickets in IRCTC is not possible. As IRCTC allows only 2 transactions on a single day for Tatkal tickets between 10 Am to 12 PM. Hence in entire Munnekolala only 2 can book tatkal ticket. OMG!
The speed is never as promised. I never got 10mbps download speed.Most of the times it is only 2-3mbps.lot of times got upload speed above 5 Mbps. What is the use of upload speed? only if you are uploading or seeding something it is useful. Generally good service providers keep upload speed less or equal to download speed.
The internet will get interrupted on daily basis and if you are constantly logged in to internet then it will be problem for you.
The technical person will not be of much help and wont mind what you say or ask. They just ignore and do their own check and leave.
I have been using this service for past 10 days and I am still cursing myself for changing from Airtel to Metronet. Dont know whether we can sue the service providers who promises the moon but provides nothing?
If you still want to give a try, ask the service provider to give contact numbers of their customers so that you can visit them directly and seek their opinion. Else its up to you to waste your hard earned money.
Update
Things have gone from worst to very worst. In last month, there was multiple times internet disconnected and not available for two days continuously. This happened two times. Apart from this several hours also net was disconnected. Most of my calls were unanswered, my messages also didnt get acknowledged mostly.
They gave reason as power problem, switch issues when I visited them. I asked since its prepaid extend my subscription for the number of days the net didnt work. Not a response and on time subscription ended and I stopped recharging. My two months stint with MetroNet came to end as of now. I am trying to file a consumer forum complaint against them for cheating customers and not providing intended service.
