Mixed bag - some good and some poor

I chanced to visit the Metropolis Mall today courtesy Fame cinemas. The primary purpose was to catch a newly-released movie.

Lets talk about the plusses first. The organization and planning of Fame cinemas was really good. There’s a ticket counter even before one has to enter the mall - which is really good. I guess they should have one more inside the mall as well so that ppl already inside do not have to exit the mail to buy movie tickets. There’s a separate counter for internet-ticket holders and other premium customers - another plus for the multiplex. This helped since I was holding an internet booking.

The security personnel of Fame were cooperative. The snack outlet was pretty good. Another distinct notice was that the staff carried the snacks inside the hall for the convinience of movie-buffs.

I did not really visit any other outlet, but I did notice there are many others apart from Big Bazaar. I have heard that their lounge/disc is good, but I did not visit them.

Lets get to the not-so-pleasant section. The ambience and decor was poor. It looked really old(and old fashioned) and not poorly-maintained. Toilets were not clean and not well-maintained. The drinking water available was NOT AT ALL suitable for drinking.

Here comes another experience which really left me bitter. I wanted to dump the pop-corn and drinks packs picked up from Fame in order to catch a snack from the food court. When I wanted to throw the packs, I was promptly aproached by a cleaning staff who asked me against it. He even picked up the packs from the bin to handover to me!!! ....Ridiculous.. Needless to say that I did not take them back. This irated me and I approached the seniors who kept arguing to support their earlier reasoning.

This is the FIRST time in my life I have faced a situation where I CANNOT dump garbage into a bin. I understand that there’s effort and expenditure required by the food-court management to cleanup the garbage, but my logical understanding of customer service tells me that they can afford to do this for a prospective customer. Needless to say that I refrained from picking up a snack from there. In addition I have vowed not to visit the place again.

Unfortunately these are the ones which makes ppl feel stinky about the whole experience. I sincerely hope they improve, else some other mall would start dominating South Calcutta in no time.
