Here r quite a few tips on traveling in MTC (one of the world’s worst, inefficiently run transport corporations)
- travel relaxed.
wherever u plan to go, even for a distance of 5 km, go to the bus stop at least 1 hour earlier. so can u relax urself well waiting for a bus. if u r traveling on a sunday or a public holiday, add 1/2 hour more to it for MTC reduces its (already poor) services(?) on sundays and public holidays.
- dont ask the timings, relax urself in a terminus.
say u r in a bus terminus n ur bus is there . dont ever ask any drive or conductor when does the bus will leave? it is the most offending thing according to them. because they never follow the time n the driver will start the bus whenever he feels like.
- dont ask which bus will leave first when there are more than 1 buses, be proud ’cos MTC lets u hv more than 1 choice.
again, one of the most offending questions. u get into a bus, wait for a while. suddenly, the bus standing nearby will start. u should not complain.
- always carry a bag of coins n help the nearby shop owner.
be it ordinary, LSS, or express, carry with u a bag of coins for MTC conductors always run out of change (this way they are helping the nearest shop owner run his business easily by giving him all the coins, u shall appreciate this.)
- dont complain about rash driving, instead imagine u r in a Formula 1 race.
the drivers of MTC were trained in race tracks so can they make ur journey immemorable. so dont complain. instead, enjoy ur travel for MTC makes u travel in a race track for a very cheap fare (a few Rs.), which u will never get anywhere in the world.
- dont complain of poor condition of buses. MTC is doing a charity to chennaites.
MTC thinks it is doing a charity to the 7 million people of chennai by way of its services(?). try to be accommodative n praise MTC for its services(?).
