At the outset, I feel that there is no relevance of the story to the title of the Serial. Probably, as they do in certain movies, the title will form part of a piece of dialogue in the last episode!
As an amateur artist myself, I give my observations about the Serial.
One would certainly admire the characterisation of the artistes in general. In particular, I am very much impressed by the performance of Santhi Williams (Rajamma) as also Gayathri (Saro), Leela (Vanaja) and Delhi Kumar (Chidambaram), who have already demonstrated their skills in acting elsewhere. Other artistes have also done their best.
There was a time when even an efficient astrologer could not predict as to when the Serial would come to an end. Viewers, like me, seem to breathe a consoling air now since a heart-warming news item has appeared in The Hindu recently to the effect that the Serial will reach its last leg in June 2005!
As for the story, I am afraid that this is rather outdated now, leave alone ladies sentiment. Which d-in-law, like Saro, accommodates such nasty wordy tortures from m-in-law nowadays?
The story-writer/Director/Producer is probably confused as to how to end the Serial. Megal Serial will be liked by viewers if it contains certain suspense turnings, of course with a good story background, and restricted to the minimum possible number of episodes.
The views expressed are not only mine, but those expressed by certain cross-section of viewers, including ladies. I wish the comments are taken in the right perspective; they are not meant to hurt the feelings of the concerned.
