Its nothing like anything

Hello everyone!

My review is on my phone Micromax Canvas HD. I was using Samsung Galaxy S Duos before this one, but was very disappointed with its performance. Thus I changed it and bought Micromax Canvas HD. I would like to share with all of you my 4 months of experience on using this phone.

Build of the phone:

Front of the phone is black in colour, and the back is white in colour. When we look from the sides, both colours are seen. Thus it gives the impression that the phone has both the colours. This is because the removable back cover, covers the back and also extends to the sides.

The screen covers the major part of the front side, below it there are the three navigation buttons, while above the screen there is the earpiece, notification light, and the front facing camera. The front has a very plastic feel to it, and the screen gets smudged easily, even when the hands are not wet or sweaty.

The back of the phone, has a removable back cover, which is also been done in plastic. It has a glossy finish and is comparatively less prone to smudges as the front. At the back there is a 8-megapixel camera lens which protrudes out a bit. The flash is located adjacent to the lens. There is a Micromax branding and a speaker grill little above the bottom.

At the right side, there is a Power or screen lock key. The volume rocker stis at the left side, this is a little inconvinient to press. At the top, there is the headset jack and a micro-USB port. At the bottom edge, there is a microphone.

Display:

The USP of the Canvas HD is definitely its HD screen. The phone’s 5-inch HD IPS screen has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a colour depth of 16.7 million. Because of the higher resolution, the text, the icons and the images look much sharper and crisp.

Camera:

This phone has an 8- megapixel camera that takes pretty decent images in daylight. The phone also features a front camera, which takes average pictures, and is used for video conferencing.

Battery life:

A 2000mAh battery managed to deliver an average backup. Roughly 14-hours of use(this is about,  the way I use), which is not bad.

Performance:

The Micromax A116 Canvas HD has a quad core processor with 1GB ram, it is powered by a 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6589 and PowerVR SGX544MP chip for processing graphics. is 4GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. With Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the overall experience is really too good. The phone does not hang while playing games like Temple run or Subway Surf. The phone does not lag  while scrolling web pages or switching between one app to other. The speaker on the phone delivers good quality sound at high volume levels, but when placed upside down there is a muffle, this is because the speaker grill is located on the back. The headphones that come with the phone offer average quality sound output.

My Verdict

The Micromax Cavas HD has a 5-inch screen, it has a quad-core processor, running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, at a price point of Rs 14, 000 is indeed a value for money. What more to ask for? I am enjoying using this phone. Just to sum it up:

Price: Rs. 14, 000

Pros:

•Good screen gives sharp and crisp images.

•Camera quality is amazing.

•Excellent value for money.
