When I started looking for a tablet, I wanted just 6 things out of it
1) Should be able to justify its price.
2) Easy internet access anywhere with corporate / free email capability.
3) Ability to view standard content like PDFs, e-books, flash content.
4) Ability to work with multiple media formats(Audio/Video etc).
5) Memory expandability. easy connectivity to a PC.
6) Good performance - should not lag / hang up and reasonable battery life at full charge(minimum of 5 hrs with internet access)
Going by the media I started evaluating the iPad and the Galaxy tab.
Some of the Apple fanatics may issue a shoot at sight against me right now, but I am extremely sorry to say that the iPad has falles short of expectations in every point stated above.
For a start, it just doesnt justify the price and the entry level model(iPad2/3 with 16 GB and WiFi) can only connect to the internet with a hotspot nearby. The 3G variant is about Rs 10, 000 more compared to the non 3G variant of the same capacity.
The iPad memory could not be expanded. It used the apple proprietary interface and worst of all, it always wants iTunes.
the iPad was rejected right away
Then came the Galaxy tab from Samsung
This was a better one. The only disadvantage was the cost.
Finally I settled for the funbook pro because it answered with a "yes" to each and every requirement above. Most of all, it could easily access a 3G network with my existing MTS usb dongle! The salesman said it worked only with Tata indicom, but thats not true. It works with any USB 2.0 based CDMA 3G dongle as long as you know how to configure it .
I would highly recommend the funbook pro to anyone looking for a table.
