Micromax Q1- An inperfect product

First impression is always a last impression
But again,
Never judge a book by its cover…..

………... Unknown

Thes cheap range but stylish look of mobile as its primary feature has brought micromax to new level in short time, and many may have opted to micromax mobile just for its look, but things may not be the same always. Because I had to connect my Nokia supernova mobile for internet with alternate number, I was in the urgent need of a second mobile. I was aware of micromax Q1 which was supposed to have a feature of 4 GB memory card supported slot, Mp3 player, Fm recording and GPRS/wap system. I went to mobile shop to buy this product, there I got to know it was with a Dual Sim active mode instrument with the keypad of QWERT…. available at just RS 1500.

Stylish:-

Stylish and its outer look of micromax Q1 is above average. On a instant, it looks like expensive product and its red and black cover is its only best feature.

Features-

  • Mp3 player/Mp4 player

-Fm recording is available which is hardly found in nokia phones

-Dual Sim active

  • Slot for a Memory card

QWERT… Keypad with large screen display

Its reality behind features-

It supports memory card and has a function of mp3 player, but doesn’t support format other than .mp3
and .amr (perhaps .wma features are not supported by maximum mobiles other than nokia phone)

Although it doesn’t have camera phone, micromax Q1 has image viewer option, but again, viewing the image larger than 50 kb is impossible as it shows the error of “System busy or decode time out”

Phone slot has a negligible memory of 294.5 kb which can store almost nothing. Saving a simple GPRS Setting from a service provider reboots the phone and the setting gets lost. So, the hope of installing any mobile application or game, it’s impossible.

Because this phone had a memory card slot available, Someone might expect the presence of blue-tooth too, but this doesn’t have Bluetooth. (Forget about getting data cable with phone)

This phone has a dual sim active feature, but because of its low-phone memory space, after certain use, dual stand by doesn’t work effectively as phone gets hanged!

Message storage capacity is about 100 for phone memory and Phone book memory is for 500 entries. While sending multiple messages, on a second attempt, there arises few errors and blank sms gets delivered.

Please don’t expect Wap service to work effectively. Its Slow and most of the site’s script (eg. Gmail) are unsupported.

Yeah, some of you might be thinking that “1500 ke mobile me itna mil gaya to bhi its ok, why to expect more?” but here comes its biggest disappointment of micromax mobile. Its battery charge is not durable for long time and not reliable (atleast such battery problem never arises in any other new mobile phone) So this mobile for a long/whole day journey, it’s useless.

It has a good sound quality and also no complain in network coverage. So at the price range of RS 1500, you can go with this offer if MP3 Player and FM radio is ok for you too, but again, how many times in a day you will keep charging your Micromax Q1?

Their small and a little more effort more, this phone would have been considerable for daily use.

Of course, we cant argue many thing for such a low price, but while adding so many features, mircomax Q1 lacks many important things like bluetooth, battery back up, image viewing and phone memory...

So, my personal suggestion, think twice before you go for Micromax Q1, atleast, dont judge reliability of this phone with outer stylish look.
