Smartstick is unusable; avoid this rs. 5 k mistake

This tiny android device is what the larger apple tv s.t.b. is for the Ios ecosystem - a way to upgrade your ’dumb’ tv to a smart one at about rs. 5 k from India times compared to almost rs. 8 k for the ’atv3’ - it only SEEMS like a better deal but the interface is clunky and a pain to use.

The apple has a regular size hdmi ’female’ slot unlike the Micromax [mm] so unless you buy an adapter [female mini to female regular], you can’t even use the stupid thing out of the box! The Micromax remote is very ugly, plasticky, cheap looking and unresponsive compared to apple which looks very sleek and feels high quality.

hopefully the next version will be better and slightly larger so that normal hdmi slots can be used instead. I would have expected apple to have smaller plugs than standard size just to make our lives harder!

the size of ’mm ss’ is so small that it really overheats and is hard to touch after 10-20 min of use.

you can’t even use the arrow keys to navigate the on screen keyboard on Micromax!

That’s totally insane...you have to keep gesturing with the remote hoping the cursor will move in the right direction. Completely frustrating - what were they thinking?

Since they provide a 3 to 1 multi usb free, you can plug in a wireless keyboard / mouse which is the only way to use this pile of junk without pulling your hair out.

P.S.: about 6-7 months after I bought it, the price was dropped to rs. 4 k but its still a waste.

you need to factor in the costs of a hdmi adaptor, wireless keyboard & mouse also

BTW, the problem with clever taglines [nothing like anything] is that they can easily backfire [be careful what you wish for] - this android stick IS ’nothing like anything’ but in a bad way!

The new motto should be ’snatching defeat from the jaws of victory’ instead...
