Microsoft Image Composer

Almost All You Need

I like Microsoft Image Composer. It is basically the only graphics program I use when designing or altering images for web sites and projects. It is a very easy to use program, and it has most of the features, special effects, and tools you would need for day to day use. The only draw backs, in my opinion, are the lack of text art options and the fact that the programs basic format is incompatible with most other programs. These are easy to overcome obstacles, however, if you do not require elaborate text art, and the program gives you the option of saving graphics in other, more common formats like jpegs and gifs.

One of my favorite features of Microsoft Image Composer is the Effects tool. It allows you to alter any image file with special effects, such as stained glass, water color, and 3-D drop shadows. There are neat, compatible plug-ins you can use with the application as well. It comes standard with the Impressionist plug-in, which will make any image or photograph appear like an Impressionist painting.

All in all, Microsoft Image Composer is easy and fun, and I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to dabble in graphics.
