It’s been a whole year since I bought my XBox One, and what an amazing year it’s been! The console has started making low, buzzing noises because of a year’s worth of dust accumulated inside, but I do my best to maintain it well and it’s been chugging along nicely.
Things are certainly looking good for the XBox ecosystem. Yes, games are still graphically inferior compared to the PS4, but you’ll notice the difference only if you compare it alongside a PS4! Apart from the fact that you can’t play PS4 exclusives on X1, this is a really good time to invest in an XBox(in India).
To begin with, the annual XBox Live Gold membership is much cheaper compared to the PS Plus subscription. Moreover, the Gold subscription gives you a better value for money in terms of free games offered each month. Then there’s EA Access, which for Rs.1990 a year, gives you access to a wide range of games from EA’s catalog. Sure, it’s mostly sports games, but you also get titles like Need For Speed, Unravel and Mirror’s Edge Catalyst(coming in the next two months)To top it all off are the games themselves, which offer a wide range of experiences across various genres, at prices that are arguably cheaper than the PS4 Indian prices.
But wait, let this post not turn into an advertisement for the X1. I’m just a happy customer at this point. I’ve had a wonderful year of gaming thanks to the console, without worrying about upgrades or performance issues. That said, I’m still eager to invest in a PS4(Pro) and a proper gaming PC in the future. And it goes without saying that I’m waiting for more news on “Project Scorpio”, touted to be the most powerful gaming console made till date(but which is still not nearly as powerful as a high-end gaming PC!)
