Xbox one was unveiled my Microsoft in 2013 to compete with the ps4. However it failed to do so.
How you ask? So let me tell you some points that I concluded after using this:
1) It is bulky:
This console is massive compared to the ps4. This console is like a full size pc that Microsoft has tried to make it smaller. It even has a huge power brick that should be attached to it in order to operate it. Even though this is 40% larger than the ps4 this still doesn’t beat it.
2) Requires internet connectivity everytime:
This console is a data hog that consumes your data like a friend who eats your food. Seriously, this thing take so much data that you have to take a new internet plan. This thing requires you to connect to the internet while its on and while you play a game or even start it. This was fixed by a software update and now this doesn’t take that much data but still eh ps4 can be used totally offline but this console was made for people who are totally online and keep playing multiplayer.
3) Games:
This console has a huge collection of games but not as big as the ps4. This console can play any game a ps4 can play but in a lower resolution. Example Star wars battlefront.
Where the ps4 manages to keep 1080p resolution for the game this console struggles to keep 720p resolution with constant frame rates.
4) Exclusives:
This console has good Exclusives if you are a fps fan or a racing fan. This console has good games like Forza, gears of war and halo.
But the problem starts here. Anyone with a pc CNA now play these games as Microsoft has announced that all Xbox Exclusives will also have a pc poet so you can play on a pc if you dont want to buy an Xbox. So this means that people will buy a ps4 if they already have a good pc so they can play Xbox games on their pc and play Sony Exclusives on their ps4.
With all these negative factors, this console also has some great positive features like:
1) Great media device
This console is a great device as this device has 2 HDMI ports so that you can integrate you cable box into it and watch TV as you play games.
2) Kinect features
This console has motion gaming that the ps4 doesn’t . Although the Kinect is very underrated now but it still is a solid deal of you buy the console with eh Kinect bundle. If you buy the Kinect seperately then it’s not a good idea.
My verdict
This is not that console which hardcore gamers should buy. This is a console which people who are into casula gaming should buy. Hardcore gamers will buy the ps4 or build a pc for themselves.
Although this console isn’t good, Microsoft has released a newer and updated version of this which supports 4k and HDR. I will talk more about that in my review for the Xbox one S
