Mini Punjab, Near Wakad Bridge, Hinjewadi, Pune

Hi

Mini Punjab is one of those restaurants that survive because of the lack of options at night for working professionals. I have been there twice and have left disgusted both the times.

The first time I was served under-cooked chicken with blood clearly visible. I would like to leave it at that.

The second visit was necessitated by pangs of hunger after a late night movie and a tyre puncture; in short we did not have a choice!

After waiting for ages as they have preference system for groups with women , which we did not know about , we managed to find a place - it was dingy , dirty and unclean ; but then the whole place is like that and the dim lighting helps them get away with that .

We were a group of 10 (6 Non Vegetarians & 4 Vegetarians ) and after we placed our order with the waiter he suggested that we order 2 ’ Chicken......’ (I forgot the name , but it was something not on the menu), instead of ordering 3 non vegetarian dishes. We readily agreed and then waited for about 30 minutes for the food. The food was passable if not bad. Drinks were decent though.

Then came the shocker ; the bill!

Most of the main course dishes on the menu were for Rs 200 - 300 (maximum). The dish he suggested that was not on the menu was for Rs 800 , so our bill was 2 * Rs 800 = 1600 + X ( this was the worst dish too).

We were shocked and asked the waiter why he didn’t bother to inform us that the rate was 2.5 times the costliest dish on the menu. He said it was our responsibility to find out.

Finally we left with heavy hearts and lighter pockets; vowing never to return.

Moral :- Do remember to ask the price of any dish not on the menu!
