To start with, this isnt exactly a review of the Tourism Ministry. Am a journalist whos trying to figure out that if the common man had all the money in the world, would he still travel to the beautiful scenic places in India or would he rather visit a nice, posh western country and have the experience of his lifetime?
Many people have told me that in places like Pushkar, a domestic traveller (or an Indian) is not treated at the same level as a foreigner. A firang is generally given preferrential treatment for the kind of money he shells out. Is this true?
Do you think the Indian Tourism Minsitry is not doing enough for the domestic traveller or is it that the Indian is just not interested in travellling in India? For instance, why is it that only foreigners are ready to go to Kashmir for a holiday? why doesnt the common Indian man see Kashmir as a probable holiday spot?
Am finding answers to these questions and a lot others like these. Would be glad if people here can share their views.
