As year 2004 comes to an end , every Indian would like to start the year 2005 with freshness , free from problems.
There is absolutely no harm in enjoying movies , gossips , junk foods etc.. , etc... but one thing is for sure that if there will be no water there will be no Shahrukh , no Preity , no movies , no internet nothing. Unless we solve the WATER PROBLEM , we have no right to be called as a forthcoming developed country.
The Ministry of Water resources , is absolutely reluctant in water saving , water allocation. Everywhere there can be a hue and cry for water , with interlinking of rivers debate hotting up and urgency being shown by the Media along with some inter state hustles and bustles for water , river , canals like Punajb-haryana , Karnataka-Tamil Nadu , Narmada river.Water crisis can be round the corner at any point of time in the coming future..
No care is taken by the central Ministry of those people who que up outside public taps & tankers in order to collect as many as buckets of water as possible , from working men and women to small kids all are suffering from the same problem in the big cities especially in the old city areas.
Situation has already arised and will gather pace with the passage of time , people will have to pay hefty amounts in order to have a bucketful of water , if necessary steps are not taken by The MINISTRY. This will genuinely result in the formation of water mafias some of which are already operating in the big cities. The situation in the rural areas are also aboniable , ques of women going miles and miles to collect a worthy amount of water in earthen pots is not an unusual scenario.
All above facts are(if not then will be a) true picture of mordern India where there is an ample scope of investments but when question comes to BIJLI , SADAK , PAANI then all the chips come down. Adding to this agony is the old and favourite villian of India the Politics
Even after watching a big storm ahead the ministry seems to be a sea dog , riding hard on it instead of acting as a smart sailor who saving the ship through their extraordinary skills Ministry is swayed away and get itself involved in the water dispute
Even inside the Parliament MPs usually get divided on the basis of the state. This shows the mental state of the members of supreme law making body who never think beyond their regional framework.
I sometimes get surprised that what water ministry is all about when Karnatka on its own basis denied water to TN , Assembly of Punjab cancelled water agreement by unanimous approval of Legislative members , isn’t there any other supreme body who can allow the water to TN & Haryana on which they have their birth right. TELL ME IS THERE ANY MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT HERE? as the states are doing whatever they like. Why the states are forgetting that water is a gift of god and every one has equal right to drink this nectar
Why don’t the irresponsible members of assembly and Water ministry realize that their hastiness , habit of sleeping (respectively) may spell troubles for millions.
Alternatives can be many like water harvesting , use of non conventinal sources of energy to save water utilised for producing elecrtricity.
It is just a wake up call for the ministry as well as people of this country including me , as we approach new Year. We all should get united and Pour water on this politics on water , save water by preventing unnecessary wastage , having water harvesting facility in our home itself.
Just a few steps of ours will promise us a bright future , otherwise no one can help when this country gets convert to a MOHE-JO-DARON of 21st century.
