A Good Advertisement can do magic to your product, to the sales figures..........A Bad Advertisement can also do magic to your product, to the sales figures...............


The basic principle of creating a comedy is exageration, you cannot create a comedy unless you exagerate something and this is what this ad of Miranda follows........


The AD


The recent ad aired on the channels of Miranda goes like this::


Two guys, enemies of each other appear on the screen facing each other, one of them signals and a group of goondas, underworld dons jump out from a lorry, then another guy signals too and another group of goondas jump out from another lorry. Now, with both the group standing facing each other, each of these guys utter the qualties their underworld dons. In the meanwhile a man (delivery boy) with a crate of Miranda appears, delivering it somewhere. All the goondas see the creat, get fascinated, leave the place, forget tht they hv to fight, the two guys get scared on noticing this and hug each other, one of the goondas tells the delivery boy of Miranda to contact him if he has any problem, the delivery boy raises his eyebrows and the ad ends with the catchline, ’Taste aisa chaye, character fisla jayein’..............


The Effect


The ad did its job of creating awareness about the product and making the product popular. In this age of beverage and cola wars, the aim of all the marketers of these beverages is to incorporate their brand name in the minds of the consumers and in this context this ad does its job well. The ad is much more effective than the competitors wherein some actress drinks the beverage and acts funny (psst: we are talking about Fanta here).............


The Message


We all know that none of these beverages are healthy, after all its just a sugared water, what health benefits can it provide, no nutrition, people drink it only for the taste and thirst quenching............


So the ad makers caught hold of the point taste over here and exagerrated it to a great extent to create an impact. Many market research results reported that the taste of their competitor’s drink is liked more by the people, so they had to do something extraordinary to change the mindset of the people and they succeeded to a great extent in that. The other ads of Miranda - the mother and son’s ad - the dog and kid’s ad - all convey the same message and perhaps the dog n kid’s ad is the best amongst these (stolen from the Hutch’s plot), that even dog’s character slips craving fr the taste of Miranda..........


The Funny Part


Any review on commercials cannot end without being funny......so this is the funny part of this ad::


# If you do not drink Miranda, you would have all the balded and big undeworld dons under your thumb.


# Miranda is a favorite drink of underworld dons.......they wont bother for money or friendship if they get Miranda......


# Underworld dons do not get to drink Miranda even with their influence and money they have ............so they die to drink it whenever and wherever they see it.........


# Miranda is not available readily as such renowned underworld dons could not store a huge stock with them for drinking and they greedily go for it leaving an official business meeting.........


# If you are on an important meeting like this one, make sure the location is far far away from any Miranda bottle.......


# Miranda tastes better when not chilled as all the undeworld dons drink it straight from the crates which are not refrigerated and love it................


Whatever, I would rate this ad better than pepsi and coke’s ad who just make a lot of meaningless noise to incorporate their brand’s name in the minds of the people.......
