Let me tell you about my first experience with M&W:
I had been trying to grow my hair for about 5 months so that I could finally have it cut and styled the way I had always wanted(which girl wouldnt like lovely long layers?). After weighing my various(and some of the most famous) options in Bangalore(Ive tried Bounce, BBlunt, Bodycraft before), I finally decided on giving M&W a shot. I know I probably shouldnt have risked trying something new in this circumstance but Im one of the adventurous sorts.
The place looked uber-posh from the outside. Romantic yellow lighting, beautiful flowers in lovely long vases, sparkly granite and wood interiors. The salon was in UB City. So, I couldnt expect less. I walked into the salon and stood at the reception. What appaled me was that I wasnt even greeted by a customary "Hello" from the receptionist even after 5 minutes of standing there. I decided to take things into my own hands and open the service menu. The rates looked decent for a uni-sex salon in Bangalore. I saw an employee passing by and inquired about a haircut. I asked her if she knew who was good at cutting hair and she said that she was.
I prefer having my hair cut by men, but I hesitantly conceded to let her cut mine when she said she was the most senior there(13 years in the same salon). After I had my hair washed for someone, I sat down for the hair cut. I told the stylist that I wanted to maintain the same length and that I just wanted it styled in layers. She finished her work fast but instead of leaving the length the same, she had decided to take things into her own hands and chop it by more than 3 inches.
I wasnt very impressed with her styling either. I would think(and I know for a fact) that premium salons send their staff for training on a regular basis to keep them up-to-date on the latest styling and cutting techniques but this so-called stylist followed some very outdated techniques to cut my hair. She tried to convince me that the style and short length suited me in the end. but I didnt buy it. You can imagine my disdain and anger. What was the use of taking all that trouble to grow it for so long?!
The second shock came when I took a look at the bill. They charged me for the hair wash along with the haircut. Most premium salons in Bangalore include the hairwash as a free, complimentary service with a haircut. They also topped this up with service charge, followed by service tax. I was so angry by the time I was done that I vowed never to come back.
If you want a good haircut, I would recommend BOUNCE on Lavelle road. They offer great service, value for money and very well-trained staff. Its going to take my at least a year to grow my hair back to the same length. I wouldnt recommend M&W to anyone. Its a mix of exorbitant pricing and poor service.
I find the staff extremely haughty and under-trained.
