NOTHING'S IMPOSSIBLE

This is Brian De Palma’s best movie to date after The Untouchables.Mission Impossible is remade from the popular TV series of the 70’s.Tom Cruise was the perfect choice as Ethan Hunt for the role of the protagonist.Ving Rhames as his sidekick is also very effective.Of Course, the star of the movie is it’s enthralling soundtrack by Danny Elfman. In the beginning of the flick it is shown that Ethan’s entire unit is swiftly decimated and he is left alone to figure out things for himself.Thereafter follows a great chase across so many continents and all done in De Palma’s inimitable style very slickly. So much so that you do not feel the 2 hour plus duration of the movie. The climax set aboard the TGV Express that travels between London and France is great and very well picturised.Again, a movie to be enjoyed on the big screen. To see it on the TV would be sacrilege.Tom Cruise looks photogenic and the overall cinEmatography is very good.Performances by the star cast are all lacklustre as the movie totally depends on the F/X team to do it’s work.
