How many of us were sadly dissappointed when MI 2 had all those breath taking stunts but lacked the gripping storyline. John Woo did what he does best , gave the movie some awsome breathtaking stunts but why is it then that mission impossible 1 was so popular with hardly 2-3 stunts involved ... it was the plot .. the awsome plot .. the young tom cruise and the ever impressive soundtrack. J. J. Abrahams , the creator of lost took over the 3rd installment in the power packed movie trilogy .. Mission Impossible 3.
1 aspect John Woo failed to also failed to understand while making MI 2 was the soundtrack ... it was one which could make the saddest of movies look good .. but he put in too much of rock and though I like rock but it did not suit the track. The original version of the Mission: Impossible television theme song was originally composed by Lalo Schifrin. What became the theme for MI 1 was written for a chase scene, but Mission: Impossible creator Bruce Geller liked it better than what Schifrin wrote for the main theme and used it instead. The theme was recorded for the 1996 movie staring Tom Cruise and was created by Danny Elfman. Clayton and Mullen are the bass player and drummer, respectively, of U2. It was offered to U2 as a group, but Bono and The Edge did not have time to do it.
The success of this prompted producers to have Limp Bizkit rework the theme for the movies sequel in 2000 which obviously didnt make much sence. MI 3 used the soundtrack efficiently right from the begining to the very end . Youve got to hand it to Abrams – he certainly knows how to keep an audience on their toes. Drawing on a few of his popular plot devices from Lost (flashbacks, a crescendo to the turning point), he sets us up neatly into his little world, where Ethan Hunt ( Tom Cruise ) is now a man trying to live a normal life.
But a mystery weapon " the rabbits foot " .. about which people dont come to know till the very end .. stirs up his life , gets his wife ( Michelle Monaghan) kidnapped and makes him come after her yeilding some breathtaking stunts ... and ..theres always the soundtrack to back him up. To go into detail would be spoiling it, but lets just say there is an extremely breathtaking sequence involving a fulcrum, an amusing one involving Tom Cruise disguising himself as someone, and lastly, but by no means least a helicopter chase which is utterly awe-inspiring and barely lets the audience pause for breath. All this, and you get a Michael Giacchino score that perfectly blends action, anxiety, fear and anger. Ving Rhames, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Maggie Q merely look cool as Ethans helpers, and Laurence Fisburne and Billy Crudup successfully bring that edge of moral ambiguity to their characters.
And Philip Seymour Hoffman is excellently malicious as the elusive and extremely dangerous Davian, shining in his lizard-eyed role and bringing some genuine terror to the villain. His scenes aside Tom Cruise are superb, as they practically tremble in tension and quiet hatred on both characters parts. If you go to see Mission Impossible III expecting some grand-scale action and thrill , you will not be disappointed here. The movie is masterfully executed, with a breezy slickness that is both cool and exciting. Were talking non-stop action, occasionally sprinkled with corny Hollywood love formulae, cruising as "emotion." Its big, its bombastic, and is definitely the Summer blockbuster of the year.
