How crappy a movie can get is greatly illustrated in the ash’s so called hollywood flick ’Mistress Of Spices’. The film leaves a sour taste in the mouth. It is like Paheli , good story but badly directed.
Aishwarya has failed to charm the audience with her spice powers and the film sucks.
Ashwarya-McDermott’s on screen chemistry is cold.However Ashwarya looks stunning throughout the movie, especially when she dresses up in a red sari to seduce McDermott.
It is about an orphan girl, who runs a store of Indian spices in the US(the magical USA). She is trained in recognising spices and helps her customers to rid of their illness/ problems.
But her powers can work as long as she obeys certain rules
she is not allowed to use it for her own good
she is not to touch anyone
She is not to leave the store.(thats the most crappy one, I mean how do the spices come ? Do they fall out of thin air????) But unfortunately she falls in love and spices begin to give reverse efects.She is a woman trapped between tradition and passion.
Anupam Kher is another Star who should not have been casted. His relevence to the story is minimal and comes in as a customer
The movie moves at a sluggish pace.
Another thing that baffled me is thefact that she prepares spices in 15 mins, but if I’m not wrong preparation roughly takes 1/2 a day. It means she must be intensely fast working at light speeds.
Also If she is working alone int he whole store I dont see why she is always looking gorgeous even after working the hell out and how the store is so well arranged.
I dont seem to realise why Ash is picking such pathetic films even if it means a hollywood flick, come on, get a life ! May be a better film script.
In short ’Mistress Of Spices’ is a has lost its spice and is as disappointing as can be.
