SIGH

When I watched this movie, I found myself sighing a lot...you know almost like rolling my eyes till I got cross eyed while watching humko Tumse Pyaar hai. But I’m not reviewing HTPH, instead the much awaited Mistress of spices. now I don’t normally like to give movies bad reviews, coz however bad a movie is, I have to find something I liked about it, which would warrant a good review. Unfortunately, I just didn’t feel it with MoS... SIGH...SIGH

Let’s see...the plot:

Okay, so, Ash is Tilo, a woman who owns a spice shop just outside San Fransisco. Tilo uses these spices as love potions (okay maybe not love potions but a little som’ to nudge one in the right direction), ointments and generally to ward off all the bad things and bring up the good. Now, there are rules to being the mistress of Spices, no falling in love, no leaving the shop...generally no living coz the spices own you (hooooooo). So anyway, Tilo meets Doug (Dylan MacDermott), and it’s love at first sight for both of them coz she oh so understands him. So now Tilo must decide whether to defy the spices and be with the man of her dreams, or cast him away, and die serving her spices.

The Cast:

I’m just going to concentrate on the main charecters here:

Ash as Tilo is so sweet, I loved her!! To those who say she can’t act, watch this movie, that girl is going places.

Dylan McD as Doug, well, I liked him, although he tended to annoy me with his pushiness at times, though I imagine that’s what the character of Doug is all about

The rest of the cast was average at best, nothing really extraordinary about them.

The Verdict:

See this movie only when really bored and there’s nothing on Tv and your local video store is closed and your internet account is so low you can’t rent anything on line. I really tried to see some good in it (you know, kept an open mind), but alas, it was not to be. the concept of the story, I thought was great, but it just didn’t pack a punch and the chemistry between the lead pair seemed quite forced. Watch Ash with Martin Henderson in Bride and Prejudice.
