The attached photos are from commerce ministry database. The pre duty price of the SRK20CLS-6 machine is between 23000 to 24000 rupees. The duty is 21.6%. The warranty on this machine is provided by the importer not by MHI. Please do the calculations.
So be aware of all these details before you buy this machine. Its not what it is made out to be. Try Mitsubishi Electric instead or Fujitsu General. And let me tell you something - I am very impressed by some of Voltas products. I have personally witnessed Voltas cooling much better than O General under exactly similar circumstances and site parameters. MHI quality is not what it used to be and since they are imported they tend to get thrown around in transit which tends to damage the outdoor unit. Even if nothing is broken or dented the fan alignment could be out.Always check the fan alignment on the outdoor unit by manually rotating the fan to see that it does not strike the chasis at any point before buying a unit.
MHI for single split or multi split system is not even amongst the top three brands in Thailand where it is manufactured by a local business house in collaboration with MHI. It is not even mentioned in market surveys in Australia where Panasonic, Daikin and Fujitsu General are the top three followed by Mitsubishi Electric, and LG. Moreover their SRK50 and SRK60 hyperinverters are designed to operate at a maximum temperature of only 43 degrees celsius. So if you live in NCR, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana where the summer temp is usually 43 and above on most days in May and June you wont get any cooling when you need it the most - afternoons!
I own a SRK20CLS-6 and went thru a lot of teething problems with the outdoor unit and the indoor PCB on a brand new machine. The sheet metal quality and workmanship on the outdoor unit is very average and the fitting tends to vibrate and rattle like a tin can when the compressor and fan is running. It took me a fair amount of effort by inserting foam pieces between joints to stop the rattle.(BTW Mitsubishi Electric outdoor units are whisper quiet!) And to top it all the claim that this machine is a 7 star AC and saves 37% electricity is a complete sham. Dont fall for this fairly tale. This AC is like any other AC - thats it. All you need is an accurate clamp meter to see thru this marketing gimmick.
My humble advice to all those who want to buy a split unit in India is either buy something that has been manufactured locally - like Panasonic(excellent sheetmetal work and fitting but sloppy indoor units), Daikin(excellent indoor units but average outdoor units and comfort cooling - not chilling), Voltas(superb plastic quality on the 5 star split indoor units) or Hitachi(Hitachi if you can handle the noise of the compressor and the air cutting noise of the fan and sloppy plastic mouldings - electrically the machine is very good) or buy O General, Mitsubishi Electric or Trane(surprisingly good). Avoid Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and you shall do yourself a favour.
