Mohammed kaif symbolises two things...commitment and hard work. This is clearly evident when one watches him play for the country at the highest level. The previous two innings he played were as important as they were unattractive. That is probably because he has come up the hard way, which I must say is pretty unattractive. On both the occasions, he came in when the wickets had fallen and India were looking down the barrel. But, on both the occasions, he showed what had brought him to this level. Calm, composed, focussed...he guided India out of the trouble. Lady luck can shine upon a man like the sunlight, but when it gets dark, a man needs to pull out his own batteries to move ahead. Kaif could have easily got carried away after the innings he played in England and could have fallen to the ground with a thud;instead he flew higher. Only those men who have come up the hard way know the value of every small thing which is why Kaif didnt throw his wicket away even after he had scored a 50.
Commitment is the other wheel of Kaifs life-cart. His commitment can be clearly seen in the way he bats as well as fields. Born not in a rich family, he could have very easily attributed all his failures to lack of facilities. But, because he had the commitment to pursue his interest and later when opportunity knocked, he grabbed it with both hands. Thats kaifs secret...hard work and commitment.
