Monopolist pig!

Ahh... spending time with your Grandparents. There is nothing quite like it. Especially when Monopoly is cracked out.

Monopoly is a game where you have to buy property all around various world cities. The one person left standing after all other people go bankrupt, is the winner.

There are many different ways of losing and gaining money. You can buy property which you collect the rent to and buy houses and hotels which multiply the rate of rent on property.

However, you may, at times, have to pay rent to other players and run the risk of ’cards.’ The cards are named ’Chance’ and ’Community Chest, ’ and represent various setbacks and aids which may affect your property, such as taxes and bills for repairs. However, my favourite part of the cards system has to be the two cards which you write yourself, allowing room for wacky and bizarre results. Indeed, the cruellest card in the edition I own is ’Your houses and hotels are destroyed by fire.’ This is a killer, especially if you own three-quarters of the board (as I usually do).

We own the (proper) London edition (the new one isn’t up to scratch) and I take great pride in my ability to own the entire board and lose.

Still, Monopoly is a great in the board games world, and is well worth a try.
