Hi guy n gals........it has been a long time since I wrote a review. but then life also has been pretty much routine and with no new things happening around after the September 11th tragedy.....i really did not find anything to write about and share with all of you here on mouthshut......until finally Monsoon Wedding came.........A movie made Dil se is what I would call it.....Mira Nair has done a fabulous job and the output is a brilliant movie which will entertain you and also make you sit up and think of what actually goes on behind the scenes in a normal wedding
Monsoon wedding revolves around Aditi(Vasundhara Das) and her cousin sister Rhea played by Shefali Chhaya and their family and ofcourse the main Hero of the movie is the Mandap decorator P.K Dubey played by Vijay Raaz
Aditi is about to get married to Hemant whos a NRI played by Praveen Dabas, but she has a past, her ex-boyfriend who she loves and still lusts for and has a night out with him just a day before her marriage
Rhea is Aditis cousin sister and elder to her but is still unmarried and wants to pursue her creative writing course in US, Rhea also has a past, a past which wreaks family ties and comes as the most shocking part of the movie
And last but not the least the most entertaining part of the movie is Parbatlal Kanhaiyalal Dubey who plays the mandap decorator and is a class apart when it comes to one liners and expressing expressions, during all the preparations he falls in love with the maid Alice of the house and the chemistry between these two actors is the highlight of the movie
Aptly supported by Naseeruddin Shah, Lillete Dubey, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Neha Dubey and the rest of the cast.
Mira Nair explores the relations that cultivate during the wedding with aplomb...she comes up with a product that is class apart and also with a message which tells us about the exploitation of the minor during weddings which normally takes place and goes unnoticed cause this is the time parents usually are busy with the wedding
rituals and dont have time for their children.........actually shocking....but is a fact and I wouldnt wanna spoil the fun while you watch the movie so I better not disclose......what happens next.......:)
Cinematography and screenplay are magnificent and just background music is fabulous....just pay attention to the music score whenever Dubey and maid Alice are together......its chillin.....the Kava Kava song sung by Sukwinder Singh is sheer class
The performance of the entire cast are brilliant and quite natural as if they were really going through with the wedding.....sheer class
Naseer once again comes up with a performance which can be termed as his best to date aptly supported by Lilette Dubey who plays his onscreen wife to perfection.
Vasundhara Das looks cool and cute and comes up with a controlled performance
Shefali Chhaya dosnt need to prove herself cause she is one of the finest actress we have today and once again gives a role the grace it needed and succeeds
But the plus point of the movie is P.K Dubey(Vijay Raaz) who plays the mandap decorator and give the most entertaining performance of all
makes you laugh whenever he is around in the movie
Overall a movie which will make you happy and also at the same time make you feel for the characters in it.....Go 4 it
