MONSOON WEDDING – A Mira Nair Film
Guys, if u r bored of seeing the same old typical Hindi ‘phillums’, then this movie is a must see to refresh our minds. This movie is a slick & fast paced movie showing a Punjabi wedding. Actually, there are many different stories woven into one good movie against a shaadi backdrop bcoz all the characters are involved in something or the other.
The story ------------------
Naseeruddin & dubey’s daughter (vasundhara) is getting married. Shefali is her unmarried cousin along with a host of other characters playing her relatives.
Her parents have a lot on their minds & they want the wedding to be perfect. The bride meanwhile runs of in the night to meet her ex-boyfriend & spend a few passionate last moments with him. Meanwhile things get a little serious when there is a relative whom shefali accuses of child abuse. The really fun part are the scenes between the mandap contractor & the servant Alice.
The typical last minute tensions and quarrels are well captured on camera. Finally, alls well that ends well. All problems are sorted out before the happy marriage.
The dialogues are partly English, Hindi & Punjabi which make an interesting combination. There is just one original song that is good. The rest of the music used throughout the movie is from Hindi movies such as Biwi no 1 and also Aaja nach le from a pop album. The cinematography is good, capturing the streets of Delhi really well.
The acting-----------------
Naseeruddin is superb. The bride fits the bill. The poor bridegroom has hardly 2 scenes in the film. The mandap contractor is really too good & the rest of the cast is also good.
So friends, this is a smart flick which should not be missed.
