Mira nair’s Monsoon Wedding is definitely an entertainer ! Believe me I was really awaiting this movie and was not at all disappointed !
In short the story is about Aditi verma( vasundhara das ) who is having an arranged marriage with Hemant who is working in the U.S ! Aditi’s father Lalit verma ( nasserudin shah) and mom Pimmi verma ( lilette dubey ) are occupied with the arrangements and ofcourse all the tension of money etc..
Lalit has hired P.K dubey ( a marigold eater) for the decorations who falls in love with alice ’ the maid of the house !
Now to add on we have several family relatives and Riya ( shefali chaya / shetty ) who is an elder unmarried cousin sister to aditi and had been physically abused when she was 12 years old by a very respected uncle of the family Tejpal uncle ( the same guy who played uncle to preity zinta in dil chahta hai ) ! And when she sees this very uncle coming on to another kid in the house she reveals the reality !
Aditi has has an affair with a married man and still meets him 2 nights prior to her wedding ! she reveals to her fiance about it and all ends well !
Everyone in the movie have given class performances ! Not few but there are many hilarious watchouts in the movie ! The love relation between Pk dubey and alice is something that makes u want more ! The ending again is wonderful where you see everyone dancing mainly its a sight to see Pk dubey and Alice moving so beautifully together creating some kind of music !
Over all a very colorful movie ! Nasseruddin shah again gives a smashin performance ! Lilette dubey as usual comes across with her screen presence ! nothing can beat that ! Shefali chaya and that uncle have done more than justice to their roles ! but the story stealer is definitely PK Dubey He creates magic on screen !
As far as the music is concerened ! No such hummable songs as per the taste of a wedding house ! some punjabi numbers and a filmi song ’chunnari chunnari ’ done by neha who gets everyone rolling on the floor !
And as the wedding ends
