O.K., I signed on with Monster.com. I rewrote my resume, did a new cover letter, added an alert(an alert is like a little memo letting you know when a job fitting your requirements is available) and I thought I had it made.
WRONG!!!!
At first I would get daily alerts, telling me that my resume had been read! WOOO WOOO, I thought. Great! It works. Next my alert sent me an E-mail that it had located 5 jobs for me. WOW !
(Let me interject here. My alert was set up to let me know when Customer Service(medical) jobs were available, in my area and fitting my requirements.)
So I logged on to the Monster.com site and checked it out. Out of the 5 jobs they had posted for me 2 were for customer service and 1 was for phone solicitation and 2 were for retail sales. HUH? O.K., they can mess up , I guess. I submitted my resumes to the 2 customer service jobs, by pressing the send resume now button, clicked to send my cover letter with it.
The next day, I got another E-mail, my alert had found 8 jobs! Great!
I logged on to find that of the 8 jobs they found, 1 was customer service and the others were just assorted jobs within my living area.
Mind you, on my resume, I stated all previous work experience, positions I had, job duties and salary desired.(etc)
Days went by, weeks went by and a month went by and every day I would get alerts about jobs I had no idea about. Real Estate sales, Photo enlarger tech, Pool maintnance, computer tech, etc. Oh, yes there would always be 1 or 2 customer service positions listed.
But still no response from anyone I sent resumes to
Each day I checked, each day I had an assortment of jobs listed.
Then one day, I got my daily E-mail telling me my alert had found 4 jobs. So I once again signed on, went to my job alert and a message swiftly popped up..sorry, there are no jobs in your alert listed today Hmmmmmm?
Next day, same thing.
Alright, E-mail again, 9 jobs listed today. Of course, 3 were customer service, and the rest were assorted....And still no response to any resumes I sent out.
I called 2 of the places Monster.com sent my resumes to and lo and behold they never got my resume!
I wrote to Monster.com and inquired why they were doing this. That was 5 weeks ago and Im still waiting for a response from them.
I went into Monster.com, deleted my alert, my cover letter and my resume. And guess what, the next day they sent me an E-mail telling me my alert found me 2 jobs! What alert? I had deleted it!
Maybe when they get their act together Monster.com will be useful.
(Ive spoken to others this has happened to also.)
So, for me, Ill do my own looking.
