Monsters Inc.
Ok…..before any of you confuse this with the latest movie “Monsters” or Scooby Doo let me tell you it is neither of them……It is the animated movie released about a year ago or maybe two.
This movie is all about the monster world, why they scare children and what happens when a small girl enters the monster world and all hell breaks loose.
The movie begins at Monsters Inc., the biggest scare factory in the whole of the Monster world, Monstropolis. The monsters enter the human world through little kid’s closet doors and scare them. They collect these screams and use them as power for their Monster world.
But even the monster world is not free from lay offs and recession…..why…??? because little children were hard to scare.
One issue that the monsters needed to take care was the fact that children were toxic substances and one touch from a kid would result in death of the monster. So the work that the monsters were doing was death defying.
Amongst all of these monsters is James .P. Sullivan (John Goodman), a big, bluish green furred monster, with purple spots, and helping him was his best friend Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) a one eyed monster, green blob. Together they worked as a team in the Scare factory and were the best scarers in business.
And where there are good guys, there are bound to be bad guys, namely Randall (Steve Buscemi), who wants to upstage Sullivan as the top scarer.
All competition is going fine, till one day, when a small girl enters the monster world by mistake and ends up with Sullivan, who is scared out of his wits ends as to how to get rid of this new “friend” that he just stumbled upon. His fear was the CDA (Child Detection Agency) an organization that was for the security of the monster world, and coming into contact with them would mean losing his job.
The movie goes on to show the friendship blooming between the monster and the kid, who he names “Boo”, and how he realizes the presence of the kid is not a mistake but rather a sinister plot by his enemy to build a “scream extractor” which would have made him the best employee and the subsequently no monster would be required to scare any more children. Also helping him in this scheme is an unecpected ally and that multiplies the problems for Sullivan.
Now, Sullivan has to save himself and the Boo, the one he loved a lot.
This move also shows the “Abominable Snowman”, and talks about “Big Foot”, and “Loch Ness Monster”. All of them are said to have been thrown out of the monster world because of their mistakes, liking small children.
A wonderful adventure for the kids, a welcome break in the summer time and very very heart warming in the end.
Something for every kid and even the adults.
