Pixar perfect

Animation is one of those great forms of an artistic medium and expression that takes you for an adventure every time you see it. The ability to create something from scratch that comes from the imagination and make it come to life just amazes me to watch. Pixar is responsible for the breakthrough in computer animation industry by creating the Toy story series and keep pushing the bar of what can be accomplished with flowing grace of pixels and splines.

Just when you think that Pixar has out done itself with one feature, it comes out and raises the bar again by releasing Monsters, Inc that provides a solid pure form of entertainment that even more intensified watching the quality in DLP format and is better than any kind of live action movie.

STORY

Monsters Inc doesn’t compare to what Toy story was able to achieve but it does what Pixar is known for, creating a simple story that expands into a complex one with interesting characters and great animation. Disney always starts out by entering us into the unique world of Monstropolis were a variety of monster live. The whole population of the city works for Monsters, Inc which collects screams from children that acts as a power source to run the city. The Monsters achieve this by entering into the human world through the closet doors of little children and scaring them.

There objective is to frighten the kids to scream, but the thing is that the monsters are just as afraid of the human kids as they are of them. The monster actually believe that any contact with the kids or any of there object is toxic and would contaminate Monstropolis. Needless to say when something does happen a city wide alert is issued bringing in the decontamination suits that is down right amusing. Unfortunately something does happen and panic struckens the monsters world and Mike and Sullivan try to cover up the situation.

CHARACTERS

We are shown the events that take place in the world of Monstropolis as we tag along with the best scream team from Monsters Inc. We are introduced to Sullivan as the big hairy purple and blue monster with the horns that is the best top screamer of the company and has a chance of becoming the scare leader of all time. Mike Wazowski is the giant green eyeball with his one all seeing eye that makes up the other half of this tag team as the technician with the comic relief.

John Goodman and Billy Crystal are absolutely the perfect choice to fill the voices for these characters. They both play off each other very well and there’s good chemistry and balance to all of the characters. I thought Pixar did a great job of not only designing but picking Steve Buscemi to voice the nemesis of Sullivan by make him more of a sly smaller character then a typically overpowering monster.

GRAPHICS

The visual aspect that Pixar seems to achieve every time is completely amazing and definitely after each and every movie. The quality is even intensified because I was able to this in the digital format of DLP. No cracks or lines in the film here and when you see Sullivan for the first time, you are literary floored when you see how naturally each strain of hair flows because it looks completely real, I don’t know if they used some kind of advanced dynamic system for the hair but it looks totally perfect.

The textures and environment were created with much attention to detail that showcased elements from the three other pixar movies. The most praise in the visual appeal would be found the lighting that was presented in Monsters.

This contained the most variety of different lighting the created contrast in each of the scenes. The great example of the perfect lighting is shown when Sully ventures in the underbelly of the company with all the pipes and passageways that brings out that dark eerie mood.

The animation is stunning and perfect as always and the movements created matched up all of the characters body type. Pixar has developed more of effective creation of human character by realistically bringing to life the 2 two year old character named Boo

PROBLEMS

When Pixar spends three to five years on there productions it’s as hard to find any kind of major problems as it is to find popcorn at a movie theater. The really only thing that is really apparent is the fact of that comparison factor with the otherPixarcreations. When you set Monsters and Toy story side by side each have own accomplishments by Monsters doesn’t quite compare to what Toy story was able to create in there breakthrough but they weren’t really going for that kind of combo with these kind of characters in monsters.

The one major beef that I have is that Pixar didn’t include any of those great out takes after the credits started to roll, they probably really could have done some great ones with the characters. At least the little animated short “for the birds” is included in the beginning that makes up for it

CONCLUSION

You almost get a little to giddy and start to overload when you and get to witness the Attack of the clones trailer and as well as the animated short and to top it off get to be entertained byMonsters, Inc.

Pixargives you all the story and quality that is expected by it even has what it takes to raise it to another level. This is one of the purest form of entertainment that has been created this year. There not much more praise I can give for this that brings out our imaginations that can’t be translated and shown in any other way.
