Nice half-day outing for a weekend

I visited this place last weekend after reading about it over the internet so posting here only those facts that I beleive are not there on the internet, but necessary:

  1. I beleive the route via Nagar Rd - Shikrapur is better off than the route via Pabal and Pune Nashik Highway - the country side roads on the second route are not as good as the first one.

  2. Mayur Baug is one of the places within the village - they basically have the website and staying facilities set up well, thus we end up thinking of this as the village - which is not the case. Peacocks can actually be seen in the farms all over the village(we observed 3-4 peacocks even on the roads as we arrived in the village).

  3. Mayur Baug is setup well but they appeared pricy to me too and I can see from where the first review is coming. We need to understand that peacocks in this village are not in any captivity so there’s no guarantee on what one would get to see. In general, peacocks stay away from people so any day/ time when there’s crowd(more than 4-6 people), there’s a high chance they’d not be anywhere near to where we are - be it Mayur Baug or anywhere else. So, the best bet is to be there on some morning when you don’t expect any rush. We were there on a weekend morning around 6:30 and there was no one else visiting - we did see more than a dozen peacocks around.

Just to provide the right context - I had visited the place right up in morning leaving Pune around 5 AM to be at the place around 6:30 - the peacocks were around till 8:30 - and as our excitement got down to normal and we started to remain stationary, we observed that peacocks were more comfortable lurking in nearby farms to us.

Hope this helps!
