Did not meet expectations

Since we come from Delhi, we are on the lookout for good north indian restaurents and when we didnt get parking slot at a good Vashi rest., my son suggested Moti Mahal at CBD Belapur. I didnt know about that so went with high expectations as Moti Mahals at Delhi are just great. To start with, the seats are placed too closeby and a loud group on the next table ruined the ambience for us. Started with cold drink for son and wife asked for a mocktail(Pink Panther).

I stick to beer, not much can go wrong with that. Pink Panther tasted like melted icecream. Younger son had cold so we asked for clear chicken soup with no spices. They did a great job of it. For starters we had ordered Tandoori Prawns which were succulant but the marinade tasted a bit raw. The Grand chicken and Mutton Tandoori Platter had lots of variety as well as large portions. Enough to fill us. But HOT. Younger one couldnt eat a single Kebab(he loves them otherwise) and elder one had a difficult time.

We tried to keep our spirits alive and helped by beer I did manage to taste each of them. They were good, well cooked and would have been great but for the chilli. As usual we ended up skipping the main course as the stomachs were already on fire and decided to go for desserts. The rasmalais were great and so was the Rabri that I ordered.

Service is very good. Not kid friendly as there is no place to move about and people like us who like to keep their speaking volume low, end up hearing only others. Prices are reasonable and bar is well stocked.

Motimahal at Bandra is much better. I’ll try their new branch which is coming up at Vashi also as I happen to like Moti Mahal from my Delhi days and was disappointed with this one.
