I wanted to gift my wife with a PDA for our 2nd Marriage Anniversary and my attention was drawn to the Moto ROKR E6 by one of my friends who was already using this product. After doing some research over the internet, I came across the Moto Ming A1200 which had all the features as the Moto ROKR E6, but scored well over the Moto ROKR in terms of looks. Must say that the Ming is an excellent PDA by Motorola, and I really cant understand why I dont find more people using it.
Not that this phone has no Cons, so let me discuss in just a little more detail:
PROs:
The 2 MP camera is gr8 and works really well even in low lighting conditions
The BCR feature is 98% accurate(which is excellent)
The phone is very user-friendly in terms of opening desired applications(being a novice Motorola user, we had no problems whatsoever to learn the operations)
The touch screen is very responsive
The handwriting recognition is excellent(99% accurate)
The display resolution is very good
The FM and MP3 quality through the headphones is ROCKING!
The 512 MB micro SD card is an added bonus.
CONs:
Cannot reject calls or read SMSes without opening the flap. If only they had provided the READ & CANCEL button and the joystick outside the flap.
To open the flap, you need both hands - one to hold the phone and the other to open the flap. Cannot open the flap with a single finger.
The speaker volume is very very . very low! The MP3 ringtones can barely be heard even after amplifying the MP3 files to 4 times their original volume and using the phone at full volume. This is a major disadvantage.
Cannot type SMSes without using the stylus, as the keyboard keys are too small(unlike the phone pad which can be operated by fingers).
The carry pouch provided with the phone is too tight for the phone and not suitable for ladies use. Occassionally, the camera buttons get pressed while putting the phone in the cover.
5. No provision to set the time for keyguard feature.
So would I recommend this phone to potential buyers?
The answer is YES if you normally use a car to travel to and from work. This phone is very difficult to operate single handedly, be it for opening the flap to receive a call, or reading/sending SMSes, so cannot use in buses or other public transports. But if you are travelling by car and are not addicted to MP3 ringtones, then this phone is an excellent buy as it will give you all your moneys worth.
