Hello Everyone,
I purchased an A780 sometime back and still wonders why Motorola has discontinued this model which has so many useful features and soo... tempting a price. I bought it for 14k and still believes that it is good value for money. But this doesnt mean that I have the best mobile in the world..!!! There are some minor glitches..
The s/w is a suspect here as my mobile has restarted a couple of times when I kept the key pad password active.
Also, when the battery is on the last level, the calls gets disconnected abruptly.
There are very few add-on applications available in the market to upgrade the current applications in the handset.
-The feckless services from Motorola service centers are also a bit irritating.
This motorola PDA is quite unbeatable with its features....
1.3 mp camera(good enough resolution for the large display that the handset incorporates..) Do some finishing touches using some easily available photo editor applications in ur comp and youll get a great snap which is good for 6" x 4" size.
Bluetooth(Several people were complaining about bonding the set with their comps, but in my laptop it is working just fantastic!!!)
Memory slot (128mb card is supplied as free with the set)
Handwriting recognition(which is a nice feature, but Id rather luv to see a voice recognition!!!)
Big screen along with a keypad on the flip which is a great advantage for sending sms who are used to typing it by thumb. No matter how advanced we are, I believe that the keypad is a significant part of a mobile or PDA!!! U may also show off with ur stylus and touch screen. This also makes browsing a real nice experience.
There are many shortcuts available in the keys on the flip and the joystick, that one would learn by use.
Speakerphone is also a nice feature but the voice is not real LOUD as one would expect after using certain other phones in the market.
The real player in the phone is just excellent!!!
The response of the applications are also decently fast due to the high grade processor.
Battery back up is also decent for some 3hr talktime and for sending some sms and the standby will last for 2days, which is good for a PDA.
All that said, if we compare the same PDA with 6708 of Nokia or for that matter any other high end Nokias(e.g. the N series) this is an unbeatable handset as almost all the N Series users feel they are all cheated as the s/w crashes very often in case the user try upgrading the applications, even thru an authorized Nokia service center!!! The price also is a big plus in the case as I never expected a handset to be this good at such a tempting tag.
Overall, if u manage to get a new A780 handset in the market u are lucky...(atleast ull not feel dejected using those 6708s which has all the sort of issues which a handset can ever have...!)
