C350
Hi,
One can keep on writing for days & still not do justice to this wonderful masterpiece. That’s probably why the User manual has left a lot of things for the user to discover.
I’ll try to keep this review as short as possible with only Pros & Cons. I’m sure you will find a lot of better reviews on the web.. (https://mobile-review.com/review/motorola-c350-en.shtml for one), but the ideas expressed here are all based on my experience.
Pros:
• Looks & size & weight.
• Amidst the four navigation buttons, there is a fifth (middle) button which is extremely helpful in customizing & accessing. After having used C350 for 3 months, a Nokia seems like a lot of pain.
• Highly Customizable. All menu options can be made accessible in 2 or 3 clicks. <Middle-button> immediately followed by one/two digits.
• Quick dial/speed dial is fantastic. Each contact will have a speed dial number. Most frequently called contacts can be assigned numbers 0 thro’ 9 and the feature may be used similar to other phones. If you can remember the speed dial number for other contacts (say contact 20), all you need to enter is 20# & it’ll immediately display the contact info. Pressing <call> now will connect you.
• The display speed of menus is very good. (I found Sony-Ericsson T68i & Nokia 2100, 6610, 3300 a bit too slow.)
• Upto 100 contacts can be stored on the phone. Each contact can be assigned an icon that shows when the phone rings. 25 contacts can be assigned voice dial. (voice dial is gr8. it recognizes the contact correctly even if someone else is issuing the command. i.e., it would work even if your mom or dad is giving voice command to dial a contact recorded in your voice).
• Games - MotoGP is fast & good. Snood is colourful & a fresh card game. There is one more arcade game which I never even bothered to try.
• Supports both WAP & GPRS internet browser. (I couldn’t try these ‘cos my service provider had assigned them a big price tag).
• Contacts can be copied between phone and SIM card.
• Predictive text is wonderful. At least 10 times more powerful & user-friendly than the recent Nokia models (3300).
• Calendar. Alarm. Notes & Tasks (like in MS-Outlook).
Cons:
• Ringer Volume is pathetic. If you don’t use the vibra-alert, you can be sure to miss many a calls. Not at all helpful if you’re carrying this in a handbag.
• Ringtones doesn’t sound great. Nothing like Nokia’s natural tones.
• Sending SMS is a bit tedious. Multiple contacts can be selected after entering the message. If sending to only one contact, then it gets rather irritating b’cos of the additional 2 screens of multi-contact selection.
• Battery charge doesn’t last for more than a day & half. (maybe this depends on your usage)
• Some people struggle with the closely spaced keys.
Problems (I had) with C350:
• If the phone is not re-started (switch off & on) in 2 days or so, the bike would become uncontrollable in MotoGP. Restart would set things right.
• When choosing ringtones by browsing through the list, sometimes, the music would never stop. This used to happen on some particular keystrokes only. I couldn’t reproduce this error consistently.
• The phone failed to charge the battery. Finally, PCB (printed circuit board – heart of any electronic equipment) had to be replaced to set it right. Thank god, I hadn’t bought it in grey market.
I’m sure I would’ve missed out a lot of other good features of this phone. Guess, I should’ve written this review about 3 months ago. J
Hope you enjoy using it as much as I did.
