I had purchased my E398 phone in Nov 2004. I feel the phone is really one of the best out there. Great Features. Camera, MMS almost everything. Also it comes with a data cable and stereo headset. Everything was going fine for the 1st 8 months. But suddenly 1 day phone was not starting. So I took the phone to the authorized service centres in goa. Redington India is the authorized service centre of motorola mobile phones in goa. I gave the phone to them for checking. When they checked the phone they told that the main board had gone. They did not have any parts in the Redington centre in goa. They told that they would be sending it to delhi for rectifying the problem. They told me that I will be receiving the phone in 8-12 days. This was what they told. After that there was no calls from Redington for 8-12 days. I personally contacted them to find out what the problem was. Then they told me that it is going to take another 15 days. that means almost 3-4 weeks. The First problem is when the phone was having problem they did not give me a spare phone. Second it they started giving serious excuses. Apart from that when I requested to talk to the head they said that he was out of town. Although he had come to office. These people cannot be trusted at all. After a real struggle and multiple phones and visits I managed to get the phone. It was a real task. I really cannot understand who was at fault. Whether it is Motorola India or it is Redington India. If the service is so bad it is not even worth buying the motorola phone. So I decided to sell off the E398 phone and buy a sony ericsson. Mainly because the cost of repairs were almost Rs3000/-. As the phone was on repair I did not have to pay anything. But had the problem happened 5 months later I would have been in serious problems. I think there are bugs in E398 phone and the going off the main board indicates that it is not very well tested phone. Serious issue. I think no one should buy Motorola phones. First for the problems and second for the type of service this guys. It is poor and I mean poor.
