Product: Motorola Moto G 3rd Gen - 16GB - 2GB RAM
Purchased to Flipkart: on 13th Aug, 2015
Well, many here would hate me for the Title. But that is what it is. I bought this mobile phone as a gift for my sister(she insisted on this product) and here is the impression
External: 3/5 stars
Looks plain jane. It can be the best device for a spy for its inconspicuous looks. Made of plastic, the body feels cheap but is water splash resistant.
Screen is 5 inch and has decent pixel density. But surprisingly my Note2 screen looks far better for videos and picture.
Internal: 4/5 stars
Processor speed is good and apps respond well without lag. I guess the new 64bit processor coupled with 2GB RAM is helping.
User interface is okay but take some time getting used to, since there are options which are hidden in the phone which we need to figure out. Googling every time to find where the option is, is not a practical option.
Battery is okay for 24hrs of my sisters usage with 3G data on for most part of the day and whatsapp\browsing for around 2hrs. This is over and above the 2+hrs of calls \ texting that she does.
Features: 3/5
Camera quality is good with clear images even on small wrist shakes(my nephew is not an expert in mobile photography yet) and so are videos.
The exalted Moto Display feature is available in most Android phones in different fashion. It is not much different(especially from Samsung) other similar devices.
4G ready is another feature which we will not prefer until atleast the 2G services are seamless and matches the prescribed bandwidth.
Audio quality is good and the supplied headphones are replaced with some branded headphone by my sister.
Now with all of these why would I rate it at 3.5 stars?!
I found the Micromax a tempting option and so were few Samsung products, all of which were either cheap by 10~20% or were having a better snob value. My last Motorola was a PDA A780 which was an awesome piece and was much ahead of its time. However, the recent ones are not pure VFM. At INR 13K for the phone+ INR800 for case+ screen guard, I think it is not cheap.
