Motorola was once the best budget smartphone manufacturer, its Moto G series was my personal favorite. Motorola gained a lot from its Google acquisition, the original Moto G had a very capable hardware and a very stock and clean version of android to complement it. It received very quick and timely android updates, and that was the reason that I was suggesting that device to everyone who was looking for a phone at that price point, in fact I bought one for my dad as well.
But later on things went bad after the lenovo acquisition of motorola( at least according to me) , the lenovo impact was clear the phones were now released in various trim levels, like in a car( G play, G, G plus etc) , the whole point of the budget phone was missed and instead the company focused on getting more profit oriented devices, my recent experience with the G4 play was very bad, I bought the phone with Android 6.0.1 and havent received ANY MAJOR ANDROID VERSION UPDATE since then. The whole point of the moto G lineup was to offer the budget buyers a clean version of android with timely update but that has disappeared in thin air.
I HAVE STOPPED SUGGESTING PEOPLE TO BUY A MOTO PHONES NOW!
